Srinagar, Jan 29 (KF):  The Meteorological Department (MET) has issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light to moderate rain or snow at many places in the Valley and the plains of Jammu division from January 29 to February 4.

The MET department has advised farmers to withhold irrigation and drain excess water from orchards and fields during the wet spell.

The advisory said that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snow at many places in Kashmir Valley on January 29.

On January 30 and 31, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snow at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, with chances of heavy snowfall over a few higher reaches in Kashmir.

From February 1 to 2, there is a possibility of generally cloudy weather with light rain or snow at a few places in the afternoon or evening.

On February 3 and 4, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snow at many places in Jammu and Kashmir.

The MET department has also advised travellers to plan their journey accordingly as there is a possibility of temporary closure of roads at higher reaches and important passes like Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, Sadhna Pass and Razdan Pass, Zojila Pass etc. during January 30-31.

The advisory also said that there is a possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in the plains of Jammu division with light snowfall over higher reaches and moderate snowfall over isolated higher reaches (Banihal, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar) during January 30-31 and February 3-4.
