Thousands gather for Army recruitment rally in Baramulla

Srinagar, Nov 11: Baramulla town witnessed a remarkable turnout today as thousands of young candidates arrived for an Army recruitment rally conducted by the 161 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army (Home & Hearth) Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI).

The recruitment drive, which commenced early this morning at 6:00 AM at Ganthmulla, will continue through to November 17, 2024, providing opportunities for young men from various districts to join the Territorial Army.

Reports indicate that candidates began gathering as early as 4:00 AM, forming long queues and braving the morning chill in hopes of securing a position. “From early this morning, candidates gathered here to try their luck at the Army recruitment drive. I observed thousands of candidates arriving even before dawn,” an official involved in the process told KINS.

This week-long drive aims to recruit candidates for a variety of roles, including Soldier General Duty, Clerk, Chef, and trades such as Artisan Woodworker and Equipment Repairer. The rally is carefully structured to screen eligible candidates from Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Bandipora.

Candidates from Baramulla are being screened on 11-12 November, Ganderbal and Budgam on November 13, and Kupwara and Bandipora on November 14, with two reserved days on 16-17 November for pending medical examinations.

The recruitment process involves document verification, physical screening, and medical assessments. The Territorial Army has clarified that some roles, including clerks and specific tradesmen positions, are available exclusively to residents of the Jammu Kashmir.
