Thandikhui Toll Plaza In Jammu & Kashmir’s Samba Closed
Jammu, Jan 27, 2024: A wave of relief washed over commuters in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua today as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced the closure of the contentious Thandikhui toll plaza. This long-awaited decision promises smoother journeys and lighter wallets for frequent travellers on these routes.
The Thandikhui toll plaza had become a symbol of frustration for locals, who faced the additional burden of paying tolls despite the ongoing construction work on the highway, leading to delays and inconvenience. The closure, effective from January 26th, 8 AM, marks a victory for their collective voice.
“The influence length of Lakhanpur and Ban fee plazas have been increased to eliminate the need for Thandikhui,” stated Y P S Jadon, NHAI Project Director, PIU-Jammu, in a formal order. While tolls at Thandikhui will cease, adjustments have been made to the rates at the remaining plazas.
This move is not just about saving money; it’s about reclaiming time and convenience. For daily commuters, the Thandikhui plaza meant longer waits and added stress. Now, they can look forward to smoother commutes, allowing them to focus on what truly matters.
The closure of the Thandikhui toll plaza is a positive step towards a more efficient and user-friendly transportation system. It signals a commitment to addressing the concerns of the people and prioritizing their needs. As the wheels on vehicles turn freely past the empty booths at Thandikhui, a sense of optimism fills the air. The journey ahead may still have bumps, but for the people of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, it will undoubtedly be a smoother and brighter ride. (KF)
