Soldier Killed in Ongoing Encounter in Udhampur

Udhampur, April 24: A soldier lost his life during a fierce encounter in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said.

According to a statement by the Indian Army on social media platform X, the operation was launched jointly with Jammu and Kashmir Police based on specific intelligence inputs.

“Contact was established and a fierce firefight ensued,” the Army said. “One of our bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the initial exchange and later succumbed despite best medical efforts.”

The operation in the area remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon to neutralize terrorists.
