Six gamblers arrested in Awantipora, stake money seized

Pulwama, Jan 31: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested six gamblers in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir and seized stake money from their possession.

“Acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Bahu Awantipora, a Police team of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora raided the specific spot and arrested the six gamblers identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Ab Hameed Khan, Mohd Afzal Sheikh, Wazarqt Ahmad Dhobi, Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Bahu Awantipora along with stake money of ₹500/- and playing cards,” police said in a statement.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 21/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.

“Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law,” the statement said.
