Public Demands Frequent Snow Parking Slots During Clearance to Avoid Traffic Jams

Srinagar, Jan 05 (KF): Residents across all snow-prone regions of Jammu and Kashmir are urging the administration to ensure proper snow clearance management near district headquarters to prevent traffic congestion.

Accumulated snow on roadsides has made it difficult for vehicles to pass, leading to unnecessary jams in many areas.

The issue is particularly evident during snowfall when unplanned dumping of snow narrows the roads, creating bottlenecks and disrupting smooth movement.

Commuters highlight that this problem could be avoided if authorities designated frequent snow parking slots during clearance operations.

“Two vehicles cannot cross in many places because the snow is left piled on the sides of the road. The administration needs to plan better,” said Rao Farman, a resident from Anantnag.

The public has called for efficient snow removal strategies, ensuring that cleared snow is properly managed without obstructing roadways. Such measures would greatly improve accessibility and reduce inconvenience during the winter season. (KF)
