The incident occurred when a vehicle (Tavera) traveling from Kishtwar to Daksum skidded into a water drain at Sinthan Top, leaving its occupants stranded in challenging weather conditions.

“A passenger in the vehicle Fayaz Ahmad made a distressing call to Anantnag Police after which police acted swiftly and a team, led by the SDPO Kokernag and SHO Larnoo, rushed to the spot for assistance. The rescue team successfully evacuated all nine passengers, including the caller,” police said.

Anantnag Police have advised commuters to remain cautious and stay informed about weather conditions when traveling in snow-prone high-altitude areas.

“The safety and well-being of the public remain our utmost priority,” they said.
