Anantnag, Oct 22: Expressing concern over the accident-prone area near the Quadri junction in Bona-Dialgam, local residents and commuters have called for the construction of a flyover on the NH244 National Highway to prevent further accidents.
According to sources from Kashmir First (KF), around 10 accidents have occurred at the Quadri junction on the NH244 near Bona-Dialgam in the past two weeks, resulting in several serious injuries.
“The Bonadialgam Quadri junction has become a frequent site of accidents due to the heavy traffic flow. Many commuters get confused at the crossing, especially when high-speed vehicles on the highway suddenly appear, often leading to unfortunate mishaps,” said a local resident to KF.
In the past few weeks alone, there have been at least six major accidents, with 10 individuals sustaining severe injuries. “We have repeatedly requested the district administration to construct a flyover to make this area safer, but no action has been taken so far,” the resident added.
The NH244 connects to NH44 from Alstop to Donipawa, Anantnag. However, the Quadri junction near Bona-Dialgam connects traffic from four directions: Dooru, Kokernag, Achabal, and other villages to Anantnag town.
Speaking to KF, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syeed Fakhrudin, assured that a team will be sent to the location to assess the situation. He also directed the concerned department to take necessary actions for rectification. (KF)
