New Delhi, February 7, (KF: In a move to improve the well-being of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), the Indian government announced a two-pronged initiative today.
A significant pay raise of 50% was announced for Anganwadi Workers at main Anganwadi centers. Their monthly honorarium will rise from Rs.3,000 to Rs.4,500, recognizing their valuable contributions and aiming to improve their financial situation.
All AWWs and AWHs across the country will now be covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This provides them with health insurance coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary medical care, offering much-needed financial security in case of medical emergencies.
These initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to appreciating the tireless efforts of AWWs and AWHs, who form the backbone of the Anganwadi program. Their dedication ensures the delivery of essential healthcare and nutrition services to vulnerable communities.T
The increased honorarium and Ayushman Bharat coverage are expected to motivate and empower AWWs and AWHs, ultimately contributing to healthier and more empowered communities across India. (KF)
