Encounter breaks out in Kulgam area

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Trubji area of Nowpora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Official sources told Kashmir First that on Monday a joint group of 09RR, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Nowpora area of Kulgam, launched a cordon and search operation.

The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter.
