DLSA Anantnag organised an “Awareness programme on International Day against Drug Abuse”

In compliance to the directions of Legal Services Authority UT of J&K, District Legal Services Authority under the guidance of Mr. Naseer Ahmad Dar, chairman District Legal Services Authority Anantnag organised an “Awareness programme on International Day against Drug Abuse” in collaboration with University of Kashmir South Campus on 29-06-2022.

Mr. Mir Wajahat Civil Judge Senior Division Secretary District Legal Serrvices Authority Anantnag, Director South Campus, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday and other faculty members and students participated in the programme and were present on the occasion.

The programme was moderated and anchored by Ms Soleh Manzoor student Of MBA 2nd Semester. The programme begin by recitation by student Mr Adil Ahmad, followed by Welcome address by coordinator Dr Irfana Rashid Assistant Professor Management Studies South Campus. Mr Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday Director South Campus delivered the inaugural speach. Mr. Mir Wajahat delivered the key note address on different contours of International Day on Drug abuse and trafficking touching the importance of the day, the role of student community and teaching faculty in curbing the menace of drug and substance abuse.

The speaker also highlighted seven key tips to adhere to help people in staying away from drug and substance abuse and assisting those who have been affected by it.

The menace of drug abuse is a biggest challenge where government alone can’t not succeed unless there is community help, parental assistance and proactive role role shown by all sections of society. It was urged that the students to be the ambassadors in their vicinities for eradication of drug abuse. Director South Campus, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Feroz Ahmad Pharmacist presented the documentary on drug abuse. At last Dr. Zia-ul-Haq Rafiqui presented vote of thanks.

The programme witnessed active participation of all the participants . Some students presented poetry on the subject. The dignitaries and students were presented by token of love by District legal Services Authority Anantnag for their active role and compassion for giving effect to the theme of
2022 “Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis.” (KF)
