Srinagar, Jul 01 (KF): A sand extractor died after drowning in river Jhelum in Bijbehara of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district ON Friday afternoon.
Reports reaching KF that one Khalil Ahmad Chohan, son of Ab Raheem Chohan, resident of Tanghard Hiller Arhama area of Kokernag drowned in the river during extraction of sand.
Soon after, the locals and police launched efforts to rescue the drowned person and later on retrieved him in an unconscious state. He was taken to a nearby health facility, where the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) told Kashmir First that the body would be handed over to family after necessary medico-legal formalities. (KF)
