01 Militant Killed in Shopian Encounter, Operation on

Srinagar, Oct 02 (KF): An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with Security forces in Baskuchan area of Imamsahib in south Kashmir’s Shopain district on Sunday afternoon.

A senior police official told KF, that acting on specific input about the presence of militants in Baskuchan area of Imamsahib , security forces including Army’s 44RR launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.

The official said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the forces who retaliated.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, one militant was killed, the official said.

He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra is being ascertained as the search operation is going in the area. (KF)
