Landslide in J&K’s Reasi Kills Mother and Three Children, Injures Two Others

Jammu, March 03 (KF): Four people, including a mother and her three minor children, died on Sunday night when a landslide hit their home in the Chassana belt of Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said the family was buried alive after their “Kacha” house, a house made of impermanent materials, collapsed due to incessant rainfall. The official told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the victims were asleep when the landslide occurred.

“A mother and her three children died of the landslide, while two others suffered injuries,” the official said.

Those who died were identified as Phalla Akther, 30, wife of Mohd Farid; Nasima Akther, 5, daughter of Mohd Farid; Safeen Kousar, 3, daughter of Mohd Farid; and Samreen Kousar, 2 months old, daughter of Mohd Farid.

The injured were identified as Kalu, 60, son of Juma, and Bano Begum, 58, wife of Kalu. (KNO)
