Kathua, Sep 15: A gunfight between militants and security forces broke out at Nuknali Bani area of Kathua district, officials said on Sunday.
Quoting a top police officer, the news agency NVI reported that militants fired upon the search party of security forces in the Nuknali area of Bani Kathua.
The officer said that as the troops inched closer to the suspected spot, they came under heavy fire which was exchanged effectively.
He said two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
Meanwhile additional reinforcement has been rushed to the encounter site to ensure terrorists don’t flee.
Cordon layers are being strengthened, the officer added.
