Srinagar, Aug 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the creation of five new districts within the Ladakh union territory.
This move, according to government aims to enhance governance and bring administrative benefits closer to the people of Ladakh.
The new districts, named Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang, will significantly improve local administrative efficiency and service delivery.
Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “The Modi government is dedicated to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh. The establishment of these new districts will ensure that the benefits meant for the people reach their doorsteps and strengthen governance across the region.
“In pursuit of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts in the union territory.
