CBI Raids Ex-J&K Governor’s Premises Over Kiru Project Corruption
SRINAGAR, Feb 22 (KF): The CBI conducted searches at the premises of former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik and 29 other locations regarding alleged corruption in the Kiru Hydropower project.
The operation involved around 100 officers across multiple cities. The case centers on suspected corruption in awarding civil works for the project, valued at Rs 2,200 crore.
Malik had claimed he was offered a Rs 300-crore bribe for clearing project-related files. Former officials and a private company, including former chairman Navin Kumar Chaudhary and Patel Engineering Ltd, are among those booked by the CBI.
The FIR alleges malpractices in the contract award process. Earlier searches were conducted in January. (KF)
