14 Candidates File Nominations for Phase-1 of JK Assembly Elections on Friday

Srinagar, Aug 24: On Friday, 23rd August, 14 candidates officially submitted their nomination papers for the Phase-1 polling of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

The nominations were filed on the 4th day of the election process, marking a significant step towards the democratic exercise in the Jammu and Kashmir.

In Kulgam District, the Damhal Hanjipora constituency saw prominent leaders like Sakeena Itoo from the National Conference (NC) and Abdul Majeed Paddar from the Apni Party (AP) enter the fray.

Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmad Laway of the Peoples Conference (PC) filed his papers for the Kulgam constituency and the Devsar seat will see Mohammad Sartaj Madni from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contesting.

Moving to Anantnag District, the influential PDP leader Dr. Mehboob Beg registered his nomination for the Anantnag constituency.

In Pulwama District, the Pampore constituency is gearing up for a contest between Mir Altaf Ahmad of Apni Party (AP) and independent candidate Asif Nabi Dar.

The election scene in Shopian District saw independent candidate Suhail Ahmad Mir file his nomination for the Shopian constituency.

Further up north, in Doda District, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy of the National Conference (NC) will battle for the Doda constituency, alongside Tanvir Hussain from the All Alliance Democratic Party (AADP).

In Bhaderwah, AADP’s Ashok Kumar Kachroo and independent candidate Rajinder Nath Razdan entered the race.

Lastly, in Ramban District, the Banihal seat will witness a contest between PDP’s Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, while Suteesh Kumar, an independent candidate, filed his nomination for the Ramban constituency.

The nomination filings mark a crucial step in the election process, setting the stage for a vibrant electoral contest in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.

With established leaders and fresh faces vying for power, the upcoming elections promise to be a significant event in the region. (KNS)
