Srinagar, March 11 (KF):  A Srinagar court has imposed a temporary ban on media coverage of a female doctor embroiled in a controversy. The court also ordered the removal of any existing social media posts concerning the matter.

The order was issued by the Second Additional Munsif Court in Srinagar. According to a report by many media agencies the court has restricted “the defendants in complaint” from publishing any news reports about the doctor “through the Medium of any form of media” until the next hearing date, which is set for March 28th.

The court further instructed the media to “hide the posts concerning the subject matter in issue” from their online platforms until the next hearing.

The controversy began last week when an unmarried female patient accused the doctor of demanding money for a termination procedure after she was allegedly shown two positive pregnancy test results.

The doctor subsequently came forward to clarify her side of the story. She explained that the patient arrived with an ultrasound report indicating “increased endometrial thickness” and reported “repeated bleeding.” To confirm the diagnosis, the doctor recommended a Beta HCG test, a standard confirmatory test in such cases.

“The patient left after the samples were collected. The Beta HCG report came in later,” the doctor said. “I have been accused of demanding money for a D&C procedure, which was completely irrelevant as she was not even pregnant.” (KF)
