J&K Expands Free Healthcare: 65 Drugs & 38 Tests Now Available at Primary Centers

Srinagar, Feb 21 (KF):  Jammu and Kashmir has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility by implementing a policy that provides 65 essential drugs and 38 diagnostic tests free of charge at primary health centers and sub-centers across the Union Territory.

This initiative, based on recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, directly addresses affordability concerns and aims to make crucial healthcare services readily available to residents.

The policy encompasses both Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Sub-Centres (Health & Wellness Centres), covering a broad range of essential medications and diagnostic tests.

The expansion in free services is expected to have a positive impact on public health by encouraging timely diagnosis and treatment, particularly for those facing financial constraints.
